10 is a sad number.
10 is the number of pedestrians killed in the past 8 days in GTA.
Although I will be the first one to point out that there are many reckless drivers who blissfully disregard the safety of pedestrians by blitzing through intersections or drive ways, I have also witnessed my share of ignorant and down right stupid pedestrians.
I have seen kids stepped into the streets without even checking traffic, and some of them weren't even preoccupied by their mp3 players or phones, they were just absent minded. I have also seen parents letting their young kids walking steps ahead of them!
The latest victim of the recent string of accidents was a woman trying to cut across the street in the predawn darkness. The driver came over the crest of the hill and BHAM!
Jade walking in the dark in a road condition that drivers would have near zero visibility. Whose fault was it? Who else could she blame?
Just this evening, I saw a woman standing in the MIDDLE OF THE ROAD IN BETWEEN LANES while waiting to cross the street. Come on! Was the 2 seconds that she managed to save really so precious that she would risk her life for it?
Pedestrians, please be vigilant. The street is dangerous enough as it is, we should be proactively protecting ourselves instead of bringing on unnecessarily risks!
